Getting to Know Our PHOENIX Phamily, Jeremy Monnett, Material Tech, Newport, TN
The role of Material Tech is extremely important at PHOENIX. This month we are getting to know Jeremy Monnett, Material Tech at our Newport, TN facility. His job requires him to oversee the receiving of all raw materials such as color, liner, resin, pallets, and cardboard that is required for producing closures. Jeremy is also responsible for communicating changes in inventory levels and assures that the production team has all the necessary materials needed and are issued to the correct work order. Once production has finished a work order, Jeremy is responsible for ensuring that all finished goods has been received and stored properly and then pulls, stages, and ships the product to the customer. As you can see Material Tech’s have a very important role in the success of PHOENIX!
PHX: Tell us about your career at PHOENIX.
JM: I have been with PHOENIX for 9 years as of February 6th. PHOENIX is the best place I have worked. Its very family oriented. I started in Greencastle, Indiana as a material tech and relocated to the Tennessee plant in 2021.
PHX: What most excites you about working at PHOENIX?
JM: There is always room to advance in the company.
PHX: In your opinion, what is the best thing about PHOENIX, as a company?
JM: The environment is like working with family, everyone gets along.
PHX: Outside of work, how do you most enjoy spending your time?
JM: I enjoy spending time with my family whether we are just hanging out at the house or going out to dinner with friends. I have been married to my beautiful wife for 10 years.
PHX: What are three things that your coworkers at PHOENIX may not know about you?
JM: People may not know that I like to build model cars as a hobby. I also enjoy driving through the mountains, it is very relaxing. Also, I have 2 teenage boys, 18 & 19 years old.
PHX: In your opinion, what is the most challenging thing about your job?
JM: The most challenging thing would be making sure that the color and liner gets returned to inventory (RTI) or reissued correctly.
PHX: As a material tech, what does a typical day look like for you?
JM: As a material tech on a basic day I come to make sure whatever position I am in, I do color and liner issues correctly, and put pallets in the right, or designated staging lanes, and keep materials stocked.
PHX: What is your favorite product that has a PHOENIX cap?
JM: JIF Peanut Butter
